The Good & the Bad - what did you like best? What least?
GLS location is great.
The campus is nice, clean, with rooms equipped with high-end large touch screens.
Everything is well-organized. Teachers are very professionnal and seem to all really enjoy teaching.
I only had one-to-one courses, which seemed unusual to GLS teachers. Most students take group courses.
I said my priority was to talk as much as possible, that is, improve my ability to speak.
I didn't have to prepare any exam.
I expected more original and interactive courses, for instance around games or simulated situations (at work, at a dinner, in a store...), being constantly challenged on how to express a given idea. It turns out many things from the daily life are harder to express correctly than commenting on politics or economics.
I expected from a 2-week intensive individual program to be like being coached for a boxing match, so to speak: set goals, define a **personalized** plan to reach them, and work hard on identified weaknesses. Or something along those lines.
Instead, I spent 2 weeks mostly reading and commenting news articles with the teacher.
I feel I could have learned way more things when it comes to speaking, even though I am aware it is a lot a matter of time and practice.
I could have been way more challenged, and given more homework to do, along with tipps on how to practice, and material to work on outside the school.
In a way, it was too light, too classical, and definitely not creative enough.
