The Good & the Bad - what did you like best? What least?
I was generally very happy with the course and the teachers. The quality of the teaching is very high however my only criticism would be the lack of continuity from week to week. The courses are run on a "continuous basis", (i.e. students join the course each week as they come to GLS…there is no start date and end date with the same teacher and students). This is good with respect to ease of running the courses and prospective students not being tied to specific dates, but in 4 weeks I had 4 teachers. One teacher was there all 4 weeks, but the other changed three times. One class I joined was in the middle of a novel, so for one week we read MOMO, then that teacher was changed and MOMO was no more.
I would definitely recommend the courses though despite this issue. I learned a lot in those 4 weeks and, if you really want to work on your grammar or prepare for the B2/C1 exams, take an intensive course too. The seminars each week were superb and very varied! I loved the sense of accomplishment of attending a seminar on The Reformation, club culture in Berlin, Berlin history and German literature at a level that could be understood by people in B1 or higher. I attended some of the other trips on the weekend and can recommend those too.
